Simply put, SaddaHaq translates news into a platform for Social Dialogue and Community Engagement.
Our theory is that news begins to matter after it is consumed. As different communities consume news, they react differently to it. Our objective is to consolidate these communities’ perspectives into news. This will help us understand each other and the pulse of the society.
As news leads to dialogue, it generates energy, which can be leveraged into results on the ground. After all, all the emotion generated by news about the earthquake in Nepal could turn into physical help on the ground.
How do we achieve this?
We built 3 units that help us achieve this purpose:
A simple publishing / story-telling platform.
We built one of the world’s finest and most powerful story-telling experiences. Check it out here -- https://saddahaq.com/new/story
A discovery platform that helps in discovering stories
An underlying context-aware artificial intelligence engine leverages the social network that evolves on SaddaHaq to help users discover stories and activity in the right context at the right time.
A means to engage with the stories
An application layer enables developers to plug their services into SaddaHaq. The context-aware intelligence engine brings these services to users at appropriate times so that they can take action on stories they read.
What should you do as a user and why?

How we keep the wheels spinning
We do not make any money at this time. Our current objective is to continue building the world’s simplest and the most powerful Social Journalism experience. We will build this experience for the mobile platforms.
As we keep building the platform, we will reach out to the hinterlands of India to connect you to the hinterlands on a daily basis. We will leverage the power of Social Journalism to build communities.
We have a few different revenue models in mind that help you as well as us. We will implement them when we believe the platform has matured enough to take on the revenue models. Until then, we will invest in building out the best Social Journalism platform possible.
At this time, we are running on funds raised from families and friends of the 5 co-founders.
Who’s behind the curtains
SaddaHaq was founded by 5 engineers. One brick at a time, we have grown to a team of about 25 people. Meet our team here -- https://saddahaq.com/team
SaddaHaq’s political / religious inclination
SaddaHaq is an open and social platform. By definition, SaddaHaq is politically and religiously agnostic. SaddaHaq’s objective is Social Journalism, which is all about enabling and empowering communities through news.
People, including our own journalists, may bring in their own political or religious biases in stories, but they do not reflect the bias of the platform itself. SaddaHaq allows everyone the freedom to bring in their biases.
We believe bias is a core part of human survival. Instead of trying (and inevitably failing) to stifle bias, we believe it is better to allow and understand all biases. It helps us understand each others’ point of view and move towards a more peaceful world.
SaddaHaq’s editorial policy
SaddaHaq has a team of journalists that bring news to you. Our editorial policy for our journalists is derived from the policy of the overall platform itself.
While our recruitment and onboarding processes ensure strong journalistic ethics, we allow our journalists, like anyone else on our platform, to take a stand. However, any stand taken by any of our journalists will be backed by verifiable stats and evidence. If you find evidence to the contrary, please write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As with anyone else on the platform, when one of our journalists takes a stand, it is solely that of the journalist and not that of the platform. SaddaHaq is agnostic to political, religious and any other views/ideologies.
